Star Mother
Star Mother was a free Kindle book, and it’s been sitting there, eyeing me, for years. And I recently acquired the sequel, Star Father, so now there were two.
Last week, I flew from California to New Zealand and finished the book I was reading (Invisible Women, which I highly recommend). The book I wanted to read next was somehow NOT downloaded to my Kindle, so I needed to pick from what was available. I have enjoyed every Charlie N. Holmberg book I’ve read, so I decided on Star Mother.
Star Mother is a romantasy novel that centers on the divide between humans and celestials, mortal and immortal. Ceris Wenden is chosen to be the next Star Mother, a sacrifice she makes to spare her sister and her financé’s true love. Being a Star Mother is an honor and will bring fame and legacy to her family and village.
Ultimately, as The Sun God wars with The Moon, Ceris must choose between staying with The Sun or returning to her family.
This was a quick read (I finished it in a day and Star Father the next). I enjoyed the setting and the characters. And while I loved Star Mother, Star Father is even better.
Recommended for fans of Romantasy, celestial lore, adventure, and stories of immortality.
